Pilates can really make a difference in your health without taking a toll on your body. It was my first trial today, so I wanted to make sure you all know what Pilates is!
Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being.
Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility. In Pilates the chance of injury is much lower than with other more strenuous forms of exercise.
Pilates also focuses on the mind-body connection. While doing the various exercises your mind needs to be constantly aware of your breathing and the way your body moves.
Benefits of Pilates include:
– A refreshing mind-body workout.
– Develop a strong core – flat abdominals and a strong back.
– Gain long, lean muscles and flexibility.
– Create an evenly conditioned body, improve sports performance, and prevent injuries.
It doesn’t burn a lot of calories, but it’s crucial for healthier muscles and for body toning. What I loved the most about Pilates is the after-feeling!
You feel energized and relaxed at the same time, especially if you’re suffering from stiffness or sore muscles after a workout.
Try to include Pilates in to your fitness schedule at least twice.
